How do users Remove Duplicate Contacts from VCF Files with multiple versions?

I have VCF files exported from different phones, some using vCard 2.1 and others 4.0. When I combine them, duplicates appear everywhere. How can users Remove Duplicate Contacts from VCF Files from different versions safely? Any tool that supports all vCard formats?
